Yorkshire Coast Mission Report

Dear brothers and sisters,

Thank you for supporting our mission to the East coast of Yorkshire.

I am pleased to be able to give you an update. I have been able to visit four locations along the East coast and preached a total of six times.

Wednesday 14th July
Beverley
The first day, I was preaching alone but was able to preach the gospel in Beverley for around an hour and 20 minutes. Most people were listening as they were walking by or whilst standing outside the shops. It was clear that my message was getting through to many, as they were responding to the words I was speaking. Some people chose to sit on some seats in front of me and engage with me as I was preaching the word. There were a few fellow believers who showed that they were happy to see me preaching in their town. The Lord give me great liberty in the spirit to preach boldly. I trust that God was getting through to a lot of people in Beverley that day.

I did not use my video recording equipment on this occasion, but opted to use my dictaphone.

Thursday 15th July
Bridlington

Today I met with a brother who had recently contacted me through our YouTube channel and website. It was greatly encouraging to have this brother standing with me as a preached the gospel in Bridlington Town Center. I preached to a mixture of locals and tourists. The tourists were mostly quiet as they walked past, whereas the locals were more vocal in their reactions to my preaching. The gospel was clearly brought home to them. The police did arrive on the scene, following one call, but were quite respectful and seemed disinterested in interrupting my preaching.

Following this, the brother I was with had to leave and I preached alone for around 40 minutes down near the marina. Here there were lots of tourists walking past and sitting in seats. I had some good interaction with some of the tourists sitting on seats. A group of elderly believers stopped to listen and one of them, a brother called John, came over after I had finished preaching to talk with me. After our chat he said they would be praying for our mission to Whitby. This was very encouraging.

Friday 16th July
On the Friday, I had some work to do for my secular employment, so I was unable to do any preaching.

Saturday 17th July
Whitby

Today I met with another brother, who had travelled all the way up from the South to preach the the gospel with me. It was a great blessing to have this brother out with me. Whitby was jam-packed with tourists and we found two locations to preach at.

We both preached the gospel and the brother out with me preached really well. It was a blessing to listen to him and a support as I was quite tired today.

We both went onto a second location and I was blessed to be able to preach for a further 40 minutes or so. We had some good interactions at this second location where we were able to take questions and give answers. This helped to get some people’s attention as it was clear that most people were taken up with what Whitby had to offer them. We both had opportunities to speak one to one with people. The brother with me spoke with a young lad who professed to be an atheist and I had a conversation with a girl who professed to be a witch.

We trust God was working through us that day, touching many people’s hearts.

One Christian family stopped to speak with us. We were able to share our faith with one another and encourage one another.

Sunday 18th July
My family came to join me and we were blessed to enjoy some time together resting and visiting a few places on the Sunday.

Monday 20th July
Hull

Today I visited Hull alone. I was able to preach and gather a crowd, where there was a lot of interaction with the crowd. The gospel was clearly brought to bear upon the minds of those that were present. One man became particularly offended and decided to throw his drink on me. Following suit, some girls also decided to throw their coffees on me. I sang a hymn, blessed them and we continued to preach. The girls actually came back shortly after and some Christian ladies stopped to engage with members of the crowd. They confirmed to those listening that I was simply preaching the truth and sought to testify and gently minister to them. One sister testified to a group of young LGBT supporters that she was ex lesbian and now a born again Christian. I was blessed to hear what she had to say to these young confused people.

There was another brother in the crowd listening to me, who afterwards told me that he watches Gospel British Isles videos online and is encouraged by them. This was a great blessing to hear.

Thank you all for your support, donations and prayers, which have all supported this work.

God bless you all,

David.
